BLAKE AVIATION FOILS KAHN! Red Skulls Run Empty-HandedThe crew of the cargo zeppelin CW-019 are grateful to be alive and in friendly hands after a near-fatal encounter with the murderous Red Skull Legion. The zeppelinowned and operated by the Curtiss-Wright Corporationwas traveling between the I.S.A. and the Empire State. The flight was secret, due to the sensitive nature of the cargo: prototype airframes and parts for the firm's upstate New York plant, where the new J4 Crusader is undergoing trials. The Crusader's design is said to be agile, hard-hitting, and tough, so there's no mystery why pirates might want to get their hands on it. Details of the incident are a little sketchy, but according to members of the cargo zeppelin's crew, the vessel ran into thick fog over the I.S.A. border and lost sight of her escort, the Blake Aviation Security airship Sentinel. When visual contact was regained, the Sentinel pulled alongside, but turned out to be a pirate zeppelin bearing false B.A.S. markings. Marauders boarded the Curtiss-Wright zeppelin and stormed through the ship toward the hold. Eyewitnesses named Jonathan "Genghis" Kahn as the leader of the boarding party, fingering the dread Red Skull Legion as the perpetrators of this attack. Nigel "Comet" Haviland of Blake Aviation added: "Unfortunately for Kahn, our boys were waiting at the cargo hold. We make it a point to have the right drill about these things, so we managed to get the whole thing buttoned up quick. Those fellows beat the boot back to their airship, but they didn't get away cleanthe Sentinel gave them a broadside for good measure. If they come again they'll get more of the same." Curtiss-Wright representatives had nothing but praise for Blake Aviation Security over the incident; a sharp contrast to the beating Blake's reputation had taken in the Sacred Trust case. "We're absolutely satisfied with Blake Aviation's work. The situation was tricky and could have turned into a real disaster, but Mr. Haviland's fast action and clear thinking pulled the fat out of the fire. We've got a safe cargo and a safe crew. I'd say Blake has earned every penny of his fee." ![]()
