CRAWFORD IS INNOCENT! Broadway Bomber Cleared of Treason Charges!
In a surprise announcement, Empire State President, Fiorello La Guardia, announced today that disgraced Broadway Bombers squadron leader, Loyle "Show-stopper" Crawford, has been reinstated to active duty. "Major Crawford has provided my office with evidence that he was, in fact, falsely implicated by an outside agency in the death of fellow militia flier, Siobhan Fitzgibbon. I have invoked Executive Privilege and pardoned Major Crawford." Crawford's reinstatement is not without obstacles, however. Though innocent of treason and the murder of a comrade-in-arms, "Show-stopper" Crawford has admitted to assaulting an Empire State prison guard, and stealing a government aircraft during his escape from custody. "Major Crawford will face disciplinary action," Colonel Richard Merriwether-MacKenzie, the leader of the militia, stated. "There are mitigating circumstances, obviously, but he will have to face the consequences of his actions." Crawford's return has led to one inescapable question, however: who was the murderer and traitor? No one within the Empire State government is willing to comment as of this writing, though according to anonymous sources within the Bombers, two members of the Madison Venturers squadron are off the active duty roster: Eugene "Money Man" Windthorpe III and Carlton "Carpetbagger" Hawthorne. Windthorpe's family has stated that the pilot was grounded after sustaining injuries in battle with pirates over Lake Champlain, dismissing the notion that "Money Man" is a traitor. Hawthorne's family could not be reached for comment.
