Fortune Hunter Gang Sighted In Paradise

The Aloha Daily reports that Nathan Zachary, up-and-coming air pirate and leader of the "Fortune Hunters" gang, attacked and destroyed a convoy of three British trucks yesterday on the remote island of Kapuahi. The trucks were attempting to cross a suspension bridge along the treacherous Helipio Road when Mr. Zachary began his strafing run.

Subsequent detonations destroyed the bridge, although investigating officials are not certain what caused these explosions—rocket fire from the pirates or what was termed by investigating officials as "suspicious cargo" within the trucks.

Asked to explain the incident, Lt. Colonel Samuel Forsythe leading the convoy replied, "This vicious attack was wholly unwarranted. Our expedition in no way threatened Mr. Zachary. We have filed charges on him and his gang of cutthroats, and we shall pursue their capture and punishment to the full extent of the law."

When pressed to explain what two dozen off-duty British naval officers were doing on this road, Lt. Colonel Forsythe stated that they were "merely collecting native orchids to send to the London arboretum." However, this does not explain the crates of excavation equipment and scores of rifles allegedly found among the wreckage by the local police.

The British Ambassador to Hawaii has thus far declined to comment on the situation other than to say he is looking into the matter. This matter has drawn particular attention with the ongoing Pearl Harbor Leasing Talks drawing international interest.

The Hawaiian royal family has issued a statement that they are concerned both with the increasing pirate activity in our skies, and with the unauthorized activities of the British government within Hawaiian sovereign territory.
