Gypsy corsair Nathan Zachary is reported to be behind the theft of a British military aircraft over the skies of the Kapuahi archipelago, a Hawaiian territory, according to Hawaii's major newspaper, the Aloha Daily.
The aircraft, a Bristol "Balmoral" bomber, was reportedly stolen in midair by Zachary and his "Fortune Hunters" pirate gang. According to witnesses on the ground, Zachary's forces engaged the British Balmoral formation, attacking with rockets and cannon fire. Zachary himself maneuvered his plane into close proximity of one of the British aircraft, and leapt onto the bomber's wing while his copilot held the Devastator steady. "It was very nearly a suicide run," said Pele'okana, a farmer who observed the battle. "An inch off the mark and I would have been digging him out of my field."
British officials have refused to comment on the matter in any official capacity. The Hawaiian crown has issued a communiqué to the British Ambassador to the League of Nations in Columbia, demanding an explanation
as to why British military aircraft were present within the borders of the Kingdom.
