DATELINE: EL CENTRO, HOLLYWOOD FIVE CENTS

DIAMONDBACK GANG HITS EL CENTRO PRISON CAMP
Diamondback

The notorious Diamondback Gang raided the El Centro Correctional Workcamp yesterday, freeing thirty prisoners, killing two guards, injuring five prison staff, and downing two prison defense planes. Twenty of the missing prisoners have been captured, but the remaining ten are believed to have escaped via work camp airplane. The Diamondback Gang is believed to have staged the raid to free two of their pilots, captured after being shot down three months ago during a raid on Escondido. The two pilots, Juan "Gordo" Gonzalez and "Marker" Mike Denning, were tried and convicted to 20 years hard labor for air piracy last month. Gonzales is believed to be a ranking member of the Diamondback Gang, Denning a recent recruit.

Rumors abound that the Diamondbacks get financial assistance, equipment, weapons, and ammunition from Arixo and the Navajo Nation in exchange for harassing Hollywood shipping. Arixo denies this, and the Navajo Nation has never responded to the charge. The gang leader, R. Dudley McWayne, is a disgruntled local who bears the Hollywood government a grudge, said to be a Unionist sympathizer.

Authorities report they are close to locating the Diamondback base, believed to be somewhere in the Lake Elsinor area.
