Broadway Bombers Hero Disgraced!
Loyle Crawford Expelled From Venturers
Loyle Crawford

Decorated militia flier Major Loyle "Show-stopper" Crawford was dishonorably discharged from the Broadway Bombers late today, the latest in a series of humiliations for the former hero of the Empire State. Crawford was arrested early this morning at the Venturer aerodrome after allegedly attacking the Empire State zeppelin Lady Liberty in flight, and murdering Lieutenant Siobhan Fitzgibbon, who was responding to a report of air piracy. The arresting officers reportedly found Crawford semi-conscious in his plane, clutching a bottle of bourbon. He is currently being held on charges of murder, aerial assault, and flying under the influence of alcohol at the Empire State HQ skyscraper in downtown Manhattan. Additional charges of treason are expected.

The hero pilot's downfall began several months ago with the publication of photos showing a drunken Crawford womanizing at a Manhattan speakeasy, and additional reports of Crawford's licentious behavior in Empire State tabloid newspapers. Just a few days ago Crawford came under suspicion for his destruction of a pirate base and massacre of pirate gangsters in violation of Presidential orders to arrest the gangsters for trial.

Several of the Venturer Squadron fliers have issued statements condemning Crawford, calling him a disgrace to the Broadway Bomber uniform and traitor to the nation. Colonel Richard Merriwether-Mackenzie, Crawford's superior, finally stripped Crawford of his rank and privileges today, after days of Presidential and Assembly criticism.

President La Guardia has called for a swift resolution of "the Crawford disgrace," and prosecutors are confident they will be able to bring the case to trial this month.

If convicted on any count, Major Crawford faces the death penalty.
