Is there a pirate feud raging in the Free Colorado Rockies? Persistent rumors out of the pirate havens of Free Colorado indicate that Nathan Zachary's Fortune Hunters and the Black Hat Gang are caught up in a personal grudge match. Several witnesses insist that the Black Hats—apparently angered after the Fortune Hunters interfered in a raid on the Worker's Voyage and rescue ship Raphael—have vowed to finish Zachary and his gang.

The Black Hats, led by Ulysses Boothe, the so-called "Undertaker of the Skies", are said to have seized the Fortune Hunter crew while on leave at Sky Haven, the largest of the air pirate shantytowns in the Rocky Mountains. Zachary allegedly turned Sky Haven upside down to find Boothe, capturing him and using him as a hostage until the Fortune Hunters were returned safely.

Details are sketchy, but Zachary is said to have recovered his crew despite a treacherous ambush by the Black Hats. The Hunters and the Hats have fought several aerial battles, culminating in a Fortune Hunter raid on the Black Hat's main hideout which left Boothe's gang without a place to hang their black hats.

The Fortune Hunters are said to have left Sky Haven in a hurry, apparently off to snatch a fresh prize from their Black Hat rivals, but no details are available at press time.
